To Supply Lamb To U.S. Forces

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 20. A contract was signed today for the supply of 1,800,0001 b of prime New Zealand lamb for United States forces abroad.

The Meat Board arranged for the United States Armed Forces Purchasing Mission to call for tenders for the supply of the lamb. The successful tenderers were Towers and Co. (N.Z.), Ltd., W. and R. Fletcher (N.Z.) Ltd., and Thomas Borthwick and Sons A'Asia Ltd.

The lamb will be supplied

in cuts. There will be chops, boneless rolled shoulders and boneless legs for troop issue and other cuts for sale in United States Armed Forces commissary establishments at various points outside the United States. The contract wall earn more than £250.000 and may be the first of several.
