Homosexual Legislation

A bill to legalise homosexual acts between consenting male adults in private v,as today well on its way to becoming law. The House of Commons last night gave an unopposed second reading—agreement in principle—to a private bill sponsored by a Labour M.P., Mr Leo Abse.

The Government has stayed neutral on this issue and the House was offered a free (non-party) vote. Political observers considered the bill would now have no difficulty in getting through its remaining stages in the Commons and also through the House of Lords.

Itma Comedian Dead.—The comedian Jack Train, who took the part of “Colonel Chinstrap” in the radio fantasy, Itma (“It’s That Man Again”), died at London yesterday of a heart attack. He was 64.—London, Dec. 20.
