Law offices in Christchurch will close for the ChristmasNew Year vacation tomorrow evening, and reopen on Monday, January 16. The office of the Supreme Court will close at 1 p.m. on Friday and reopen on Janu-

ary 4. The office of the Magistrate's Court, however, will open for three days between Christmas and New Year. It will close at 4 p.m. on Friday. reopening on December 28, 29, and 30, dose on Monday, January 2, and reopen the next day. Sittings of the Supreme Court are now ended for the year, and will not resume until February 1. But there will be sittings of the Magistrate's Court, before justices of the peace, on all days between December 24 and January 7 (inclusive), except Christmas Day and New Year's Day. On Friday, December 30, and Friday, January 6, Mr K. H. J. Headifen, S.M., will sit to deal with cases on which persons have been arrested or remanded after arrest.

A magistrate will be available in the week beginning January 9 to deal with similar cases.

Traffic prosecutions brought by the Christchurch City Council will be heard on Tuesday, January 10. and those brought by the Transport Department will be heard on Wednesday, January 11.

Motorists* Guide A report on traffic volume, weather, driving faults, road hazards, and general conditions will be broadcast from the main national radio stations for the information of persons the holidays. The reports will be given at 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. each day from December 23 to January 16 from information provided by officers of the Transport Department throughout New Zealand.
