CHRISTMAS AT HOME

Injured Man’s Flight

Accompanied by his father and a Christchurch doctor, Brian Robert Froome, aged 18, left Christchurch Airport last evening for his home in Perth. He was seriously injured in a road accident near Motunau on November 23. The young man wished to be home for Christmas, and his parents persuaded the Christchurch Hospital authorities to allow him to go. The Christchurch doctor will accompany him as far as Melbourne, and will return on an aircraft that will arrive in Christchurch tomorrow morning. A Perth doctor will watch Mr Froome on the air trip from Melbourne. The father, Mr W. Froome, a farmer, has been in Christchurch for three weeks. He and Mrs Froome visited their son daily until Mrs Froome left for home last week.

The young man suffered three fractures of the skull, a broken arm, a broken leg, and broken toes. He was on the seriously ill list until recently.
