Sea Cadet Prizes

Manning) at the prize-giving parade of the training ship, steadl? s ‘> °f the Navy League Sea Cadet Corps at H.M.N.Z.S. PegaMr Manning presented a projector to the Training Ship Steadfast on behalf of the McKenzie Trust. A gliding scholarship was presented to the training ship by Squadron Leader R. Woodfleld, of the Air Training Corps. In the Commonwealth shoot for the Duke of Edinburgh Ship's Bell, the Training Ship Steadfast’s team recorded the highest team score in New Zealand. Members of the successful team were: Petty Officer Cadet T. Clark, Leading Cadets R. Hopkins and A. Reeves, Able Bodied Cadets S. Hall, P. Hol. der, K. Mahar, R. Bailey and C. Jones. Accompanied by Commander W. Norrie, Mr Manning inspected the training ship's company. The prizes presented by the Mayor were:— Nelson Column.—Leading Cadet A. Reeves. Senior rating trophy: Able-bodied Cadet L. Burrows. Boat rigging: Starboard Watch. Boat pulling: Port Watch. Inter-watch shoot: Port Watch. Athletic trophy: Starboard Watch. Bugler's badge: Able-bodied Cadet R. Fraser. Good shooting badge: Petty Officer Cadet I. Lochie, Able-bodied Cadets S. Hall, P. Holder, C. McGrath and K. Mahar.
