Pheroz Pride Likely At Te Aroha

‘‘The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND. The meeting of such fine mares as Pheroz Pride and Honestly with a speedster like Barellan makes certain a good race in the Thames Valley Stakes at Te Aroha today.

It is Barellan’s habit to make the pace. The other two are great finishers and Pheroz Pride, specially, seems an excellent prospect. Golden Defoe, in his attempt to win the race for the fourth time on end, Ocean Mist and Michael Molloy are notable in the first leg of the T. double, the W. S. Goosman Handicap. Ocean Mist, at five years, looks on the verge of really good form. Golden Defoe has had only one start after a spell but he is well known as able to regain top form very quickly. Gene, a stablemate of Golden Defoe, Valiant Aebel and Sunset Fair might be the hardest to beat in the second leg, the Flying Thousand. The weather has been mainly fine and the going should be excellent. Selections:— 11 a.m.—Spa Malden: First Division: Queen's Romance, Lady Volitime. Second Division: The Carpet Bagger.
