Papanui H.S. Prizes
"One hears many criticisms of the younger generation, of their attitude to work, their supposed weaknesses, and their failure to conform,” Mr E. Fancy, principal of the Papanui High School, said at the prizegiving ceremony yesterday. Yet. in writing testimonials for many senior pupils, he had been impressed by the notes of staff on reliability, good work habits, co-operation, and courtesy of pupils of a wide range of academic ability. These comments were sufficiently numerous to confirm that children, over-all, were as good as previous generations, and that a large number in the school would take their place in the community as sensible mature citizens, Mr Fancy said. Dr L. McH. Berry. Medical Sunerintendent-in-Chief of the North Canterbury Hospital Board, was guest speaker. Prizes were presented as follows: Class Prizes 3PI: Jillian M.
