Margin Of Rises Over Falls Narrows
The margin of rises over falls narrowed considerably yesterday as New Zealand stock exchanges closed for the week. Leaders were in balance and turn-overs only slightly above average. The overseas list improved.
Price movements were narrow, but K.P.N.Z. Drugs rose 9d to 39s 6d and Mount Isa Mines gained Is 6d to 365. Associated British Cables at B.N.Z. Finance at 13s 9d, N.Z. Newspapers at 32s 9d and Salmond Holdings at 19s 9d each rose 3d.
Fletcher Holdings lost 4d, on the disappointing interim report, and 4d falls were also recorded by General Foods rights at 2s 5d and 1.C.1.N.Z. at 19s. Frozen meats declined, with falls by the Gear Meat Company shares and Southland.
