N.Z. Medical
Association Sir,—Could you tell me what nationality Dr. Geiringer is, and what political set-up he and his New Zealand Medical Association represent and are working for? The reports from the B.M.A. and the N.Z.MA. on various issues are
confusing to the public and as the N.Z.M.A. is using its appeal for public support, something about it should be known.—Yours, etc., INTERESTED. December 6, 1966. [The New Zealand Medical Association replies: “Dr. E. Geiringer, M.D. (London), Ph.D. (Edinburgh), the present secretary of the New Zealand Medical Association, is of British nationality. The association is an entirely independent association of New Zealand doctors and represents only itself. It is not correct to say that the association is appealing for public support. Its purpose is to inform the public about the state of their health services. In performing this function we are entirely self-supporting and intend to remain so. Any queries from the public will be promptly answered if directed to the New Zealand Medical Association, P.O. Box 6209, Wellington.”]
