Steadier Tone But Market Still Rising
There was a steadier tone on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday, although the rising trend continued. Turn-over was higher and the range of trading was wide. A feature of the Christchurch market was the sale of a quantity of Australian stocks at virtually no premium.
Most movements were small. Tasman recovered another Is to 50s, but New Zealand Refining, at 47s 9d, and the newly-listed Salmond Holdings, at 19s 6d, each lost 9d.
