N.Z. Gift Of Weapons

WELLINGTON, Dec. 6. New Zealand would give 1000 .303 rifles and 65 bren machine guns to Singapore so that reserve elements of the Singapore Defence Forces could be trained and equipped part-time, the Minister of Defence (Mr Eyre) announced today. He said the weapons were surplus to New Zealand’s requirements and would be of use to the Singapore Government, which was building up a small military force for local defence purposes.
