Tug Engineers’ Talks Begin
(N.Z. Press, Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 7. Conciliation in the tug engineers’ dispute which affected 42 men from nine ports opened today before Mr C. H. Benney, the independent arbitrator appointed last month by the Minister of Labour (Mr Shand). After an dght-day stoppage, the Marine Engineers’ Institute and the Harbours Association undertook to accept the decision of the arbitrator
on wages. Mr Benney said last night that there was nothing to report on the progress of the hearing.
