£25,000 Worth
Goods and money amounting to £25,000 were obtained through crimes of dishonesty committed in Christchurch last month.
Burglaries reported to the police numbered 140, involving £6600, compared with 131 involving £5900 the previous month. There were 36 house burglaries last month, the same as the number in October. Last month, the number of thefts reported was 241, the value of property
stolen being £7516. In October, 249 thefts Involving £5980 were reported. A sharp rise in the number of cases in which money or goods were ob-
tained with valueless cheques began in October and continued last month when 31 cases of false pretences involving £428 were reported. In October 30 cases Involving £569 were reported. Forty-seven vehicles, worth £lO,OOO, were converted last month.
