SISTER CITY VISITORS

Former Mayor Of Hampshire

Arrangements have been completed for the visit to Christchurch by a former Mayor of Christchurch, Hampshire (Aiderman J. R. Bell), who will arrive with his wife tomorrow to begin a five-day visit.

The Mayor (Mr G. Manning) will meet the couple at Lyttelton, renewing a friendship which began when Mr Manning visited Britain in 1963. There will be a Mayoral reception at 10.30 a.m. and then Aiderman Bell and his wife will be taken on a tour of the city. In the evening they will be the guests of the Canterbury Travel Club, and on Thursday will be entertained at dinner by the City Council.

A scenic drive has been arranged for Friday, and on Saturday the visitors will be shown the Botanic Gardens and the Canterbury Museum. In the evening they will attend a concert by the Christchurch Harmonic Society.

Aiderman Bell and his wife will leave for Mount Cook on Monday.
