Landscape Consultants For Roading Schemes
Mr H. A. Turbott, of Auckland, was yesterday appointed by the Christchurch Regional Planning Authority to be landscape consultant for the various stages of development of the Christchurch master transportation plan, with Mr H. D. Bowers, of California, as senior associate consultant. As each stage of the plan’s development is in preparation, reports will be prepared for the authority, which will call for more detailed reports where necessary. Mr Turbott, the authority was told at its meeting yesterday, estimated that a preliminary report would take about two months’ actual work, but he would like to spread its preparation over a period of nine months so he could experience a full cycle of seasons.
The authority agreed to set aside £2500 in next year’s estimates to cover fees and expenses.
Mr Turbott, a qualified architect, is a landscape con-
suitant at Auckland. He trained and worked in Britain and the United States, and has been associated with the Auckland Schools of architecture and Town-Planning, and with the landscaping of Auckland motorways. Mr Bowers has been supervising landscape architect for the Californian Division of Highways for 38 years, and is said to have been responsible for the landscaping of a greater length of highway in both urban and rural conditions than any equivalent expert
