SPECIAL SAILINGS

Bookings Heavy

A series of daylight and special sailings to cope with heavy holiday passenger and car traffic in addition to the normal schedule has been arranged by the Union Steam Ship Company. Between December 17 and January 17 passenger and car bookings are heavy but there is some passenger accommodation available on daylight sailings to Wellington on December 23, 28, January 8 and 14. There is limited space for cars on the daylight trip to Wellington but all other sailings have waiting lists for cars, except for the period December 30 to January 1 when there is still some accommodation for both passengers and cars. On December 20 the Maori will sail for Wellington after the arrival of the 7.45 a.m. train at Lyttelton and on the same day the Wahine will sail from Wellington and is scheduled to arrive at Lyttelton at 6.30 p.m. On Christmas Day there will be special sailings. The Wahine will make a daylight trip to Wellington and the Maori will sail from Wellington at 8 p.m. Both ships will make daylight sailings from Lyttelton and Wellington on December 28 and on Sunday, January 1, they will both make special night trips. On Sunday, January 8, there will be a daylight sailing to Wellington and a return trip to Lyttelton that night There will also be special sailings on January 14, 15, 29, and February 5.
