Mullins Cup Cycling

Twenty-four cyclists from Tinwald, Timaru, St. Andrews, Hornby and Christchurch took part in the annual Mullins Cup race over 25 miles on the Maronan road, Ashburton, on Sunday. The race was conducted by the Tinwald Cycling Club. The fastest time, 60min 18sec, went to D. Sorenson (St. Andrews). Only one-tenth of a second behind Sorenson were C. Yaxley (Hornby) and C. Henderson (St. Andrews). All three were off 2min.

K. Evans (Tinwald, lOmin) won the race with a time of 66min 50sec. N. Woodgate (Hornby) was second in 66min 51sec and B. Doussett (Hornby) third in 68min 54sec.

There were nine riders in a novice race over five miles, won by W. Skilling, in 13min 42sec. B. Roulston. 15min 15sec, was second and M. Ward, 15min 17 sec, was third. Fastest time went to K. Smith (scr), with 12min 47sec.
