Hurricane Abates
(N.Z. Prett Association) SUVA, December 4
The hurricance which developed to the north-west of Fiji early today appeared to have lost much of its strength as it moved across the island of Viti Levu. In Suva this afternoon high winds broke branches from trees and made small craft seek shelter, but there was no serious damage even though the storm centre passed close to the city. An official staement said the hurricane had caused no interruption to road services or telephone communications. There had been little damage to property and there had been no reports of any loss of life.
