Group net profit for the year was 976,301 dollars (up 6361 dollars).
Directors say that conditions in some Australian markets were depressed, and results were further affected by increased operating costs. The New Zealand company had an especially good trading year, which contributed substantially to group profit, they say. The group result is after tax 696.815 dollars (down 3129 dollars) and depreciation 400,336 dollars (down 39,918 dollars). Earning rate firms from 18.6 to 18.7 per cent on paid ordinary capital, after deducting the 10,000-dollar prefei> ence charge. Ordinary dividend Is held at 16 per cent with a final 8) per cent.
