Australia is left with a challenging last dav’s play against the South African XI.
At stumps yesterday, after three days’ play, the South African XI held a 346 runs lead with four second innings wickets i n hand. The South African batsmen after 290 minutes at the wicket had scored 229 for six in the innings. For long periods they were tied down by tight Australian bowling. It was only in the final session that the wicket-keeper, D. Lindsay, in a free-hitting display, improved the position. Scored Two Sixes He hit two sixes and seven boundaries in 68 runs made in 117 minutes, and shared in a stand of 75 in 70 minutes wih R. Dumbrill. The Australian fast-medium bowler. D. Renneberg, produced his best form of the tour. He took three wickets in 56 deliveries and at a cost of only 12 runs. He finished with 3/39.
