NEW ZEALAND OPERA SINGERS.—Two New Zealand singers, Janet Kenny (right) and Beverley Bergen (left), who have established themselves in opera in Britain. Janet Kenny, formerly of Christchurch, sang a principal part in “The Magic Flute” at Glyndebourne Opera Festival earlier this year. She has been chosen to sing the mezzo-soprano role of the Sorceress in a concert presentation of “Dido and Aeneas” by the St. Bartholomew’s Music Society at the Guildhall this month. Beverley Bergen, the former Dunedin television announcer (Miss Beverley Ganderton), recently won the Murray Memorial Prize for young New Zealand musicians.
