(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) HONG KONG, Dec. 6. Peking said today the Chinese people could not live side by side with United States imperialism, which was attempting to launch aggression against them.
The “People’s Daily” is mouthpiece of the Chinese Communist Party. The editorial followed Chinese protests against alleged United States air attacks on Chinese fishing boats on November 30 and December 1.
It said the attacks, which killed or wounded 46 Chinese fishermen and sank six boats, constitute “an extremely grave war provocation against the great Chinese people by diabolical United States imperialism.” “The Chinese people do not entertain any illusions about United States imperialism,” said an editorial in the “People’s Daily” quoted by the New China News Agency monitored in Hong Kong. “They have long been prepared. They are now standing in battle array.”
