CHRISTCHURCH READINGS

Situation.-r-A frontal zone is moving over the North Island. A ridge of high pressure is spreading across the Tasman Sea on to New Zealand. Forecast:

Canterbury.—Moderate to fresh northeasterlies about the coast; moderate and variable winds inland; cloudy and cool with coastal drizzle at first; becoming fine during the day; afternoon temperatures rising inland.

Marlborough.—Cool south-east winds, fresh to strong in parts of Cook Strait; mainly moderate elsewhere fine, except for scattered showers in the ranges.

Nelson.—Easterlies, fresh in exposed northern areas; winds moderate and variable elsewhere; fine and cool; isolated afternoon showers in the ranges.

Buller and Westland.—Moderate variable winds; fine; rising day temperatures. Outlook: fine.
