Fined £5
An 18-year-old trawler hand, Peter Stanley Norriss, was fined £5 by Messrs J. B. Collett and A. M. Miller, Justices of the Peace, at Lyttelton yesterday on a charge of being found without lawful excuse in a Lyttelton house, but in circumstances that did not disclose any other offence. Senior Sergeant D. G. M. Simpson said a woman had heard a noise in her daughter’s bedroom, found Norriss, and called the police. Norriss had said he was there to get a shirt which the daughter had promised him for his birthday.
