SUCCESS OF MERGER
Technical And West High The merger of the Christchurch Technical College and Christchurch West High School had worked well in its first year, the headmaster of the Hagley High School (Mr T. R. Richards) told the board of governors.
The old pupils’ associations had solved their differences and the new uniform for girls had met with approval, he said. Next year the whole school should have the same uniform.
There would be a change in the boy’s uniform next year. Sixth-form pupils would be permitted to wear the school blazer without a cap or boater if they wished. The board approved the following new staff appointments: —head of the French department Mr R. A. Harns; general teacher. Mr K. Thompson: science teachers, Mr J. G. Williams and Mr B. Allison.
the resignation of Professor J. Simpson from the board was accepted. Professor Simpson said he would be on leave for more than a year ana would rather resign than ask for leave of absence.
