OPERATOR FITTERS WANTED FOR NEW ZEALAND ELECTRICITY DEPARTMENT MARSDEN STEAM POWER STATION Applications are invited for the above positions which lead to a power station operating career that offers excellent prospects. Applicants should have served a mechanical or electrical fitting apprenticeship. Experience in marine engineering, in the operation or maintenance of rotating plant or steam equipment an advantage, but is not essential. Appointees will be required on site in early January, 1967, when on site training will be given for Shift Operator, duties involving main boilers and steam turbo-alterators; otherwise standard duties will include operating and maintaining auxiliary plant and equipment associated with feed water and fuel-oil supply and with cooling water pumps and equipment. The station which is to be commissioned in 1967 will have two 120 megawatt turbo-alternators with two oil-fired boilers; steam conditions 1525 Ibs/sq in. 1005 deg. Fah. Nominal salary for an Operator Fitter is £1045 p.a. but gross remuneration, including shift allowances and some overtime, should be approximately £1250 p.a. and normal Public Service annual leave, paid sick leave, and superannuation privileges are available. Marsden Station is located on the sea front at Bream Bay, 30 miles by road south-east of Whangarei. Married three or four bedroomed accommodation at moderate rentals and single accommodation are available in the new departmental village.
