Producer Of “Maigret” (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, Dec. 4. Giles Cooper, the dramatist and television producer who adapted the “Maigret” novels for British Broadcasting Corporation television was found dead on the railway line near Surbiton, in Surrey. He is believed to have fallen from the train in which he was travelling. Mr Cooper, aged 48, born in Ireland in 1918. wrote 40 plays and about 50 adaptations, including “Maigret” and “Madame Bovary.” His trilogy, “Sword of Honour,” adapted from three novels by Evelyn Waugh about the Second World War will be shown by the 8.8. C. next year.
