Tennis Singles To Brazil
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) CALCUTTA. E. Mandarine (Brazil) won the first reverse singles yesterday on the last day of the Davis Cup inter-zone final against J. Mukherjea (India), In five sets. 9-7, 3-6, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5, to level the match two-all. The last match, between T. Koch (Brazil) and V. K. Krishnan (India) will decide the tie. Crookenden May Turn (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON The New Zealand tennis player, I. Crookenden, is con templatlng turning professional in the United States. Crookenden, in a letter tabled at a meeting of the management committee of the New Zea land Lawn Tennis Association last night, said he was contemplating turning professional, going to graduate school, or a combination of both, late next year. He said that he would not be available for Davis Cup play for New Zealand, if selected, before June 17 In either the European zone or the American zone, un less the match was played in the United States.
