Fewer Married In November

Fewer marriage notices were issued last month in Christchurch than in November, 1965, according to statistics for Christchurch released by the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages. Last month 158 marriage notices were issued and 36 registry marriages performed, bringing this year’s total so far to 2256 marriage notices issued and 414 registry marriages. In November, 1965, 225 marriage notices were issued and 40 registry marriages performed, although the over-all totals of 2129 marriage notices and 376 registry ! marriages, in 1965 were less than this year. i There were 545 births last ‘month—32 more than in November, 1965, bringing the number in Christchurch this year to 5233, compared with 4998 in the same period last year. Five more deaths than in November last year were recorded last month. The 212 deaths bring this year’s total so far to 2578. Last year in the same period there were 2381 deaths.
