Woman Died In Fire
(N.Z. Press Association) ROTORUA, Dec. 4. A middle-aged woman died in a fire which completely destroyed a Ministry of Works house at Aratiatia, near Taupo, about 6 a.m. today. Taupo police tonight said they were unable to identify the woman. Identification will be made in Rotorua tomorrow. Mr Harry Stevens, who occupied the house, escaped sufferings bums to his arms and feet. He was admitted to Rotorua Hospital, where his condition is satisfactory. The fire was discovered by a neighbour, Mr G. O’Reilly, whose dog woke him shortly before 6 a.m. He looked out and saw the house a raging inferno. He summoned the Aratiatia Ministry of Works Fire Brigade, but the house was beyond saving.
