Seven Hurt In Collision
Seven persons were hurt when two cars collided on the corner of Tancreds and Springs roads about 3.30 p.m. yesterday. Five were taken to hospital. One of the cars caught fire and ran into a gorse hedge, setting the hedge alight Nobody in the car was burned, and the Lincoln Volunteer Fire Brigade put out the hedge fire. Two St John ambulances took five of the injured to hospital. The other two did not require hospital treatment All the injured were treated by Dr. L. F. G. Austin of Lincoln, at the scene. Mr and Mrs H. Tolley, of High street Leeston, suffered head injuries, and were discharged after treatment. Their son, Clive Tolley, suffered head and leg injuries. He was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital, where his condition is reported to be satisfactory.
John McTainsh, of 11 Kauri street, Riccarton, suffered head injuries, and Mr K. J. Edwards, of No. 4 R.D., Broadfields, also suffered head injuries. Both were admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital and the condition of each is reported to be satisfactory.
