U THANT ACCEPTS
Term To Be Five Years (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) NEVI YORK, Dec. 4. The United Nations General Assembly has appointed U Thant to a new five-year term as Secret-ary-General. He accepted with full recognition of his authority to act on matters of world unrest and basic United Nations issues. The vote in the 121-nation Assembly on Friday night was 120 to nil with one invalid ballot. The 15-member Security Council had unanimously recommended the new term at a closed session. The Assembly fixed the term to expire on December 31, 1971.
