Memorial In Moscow To Unknown Soldier

GV Z. Press Association —Copyright) MOSCOW, December 4. Moscow 7 buried its Unknown Soldier of the Second World War by the Kremlin wall yesterday".

The solemn burial came 25 years after the nameless soldier was killed defending the Soviet capital from German Invaders who were driven back from the city’s gates in December, 1941.

The ceremony included a slow funeral procession through Moscow, flowers on the snow-shrouded grave, a three-gun salute—and a mother’s plea for Americans to leave Vietnam.

A gravestone will be placed at the site and an eternal flame ignited next May 9, the twenty-second anniversary of V-E Day. The grave was marked by two plaques. One read, “At this point a monument will be erected and an eternal flame lighted.” The other said: “Your name is unknown. Your heroic deed is immortal. To those who died for their country in 19411945.”

Although the war has been over for nearly 22 years, the grave is the first war memorial of any kind in Moscow.
