F.A.C. YEAR DIFFICULT
Quarter Behind Schedule
(N.Z. Press Association)
HAMILTON, November 30.
The current year was proving more difficult than any for several years, said the chairman of Farmers’ Co-op-erative Auctioneering Company Ltd., Hamilton, Mr S. A. Rhodes, at the annual meeting.
As always, falling prices for meat and wool had had an immediate effect on the economy of New Zealand. At the end of October, after three months’ trading, r:e> profit of the company was running behind budget. “This does not cause us any undue alarm or need for pessimism,” Mr Rhodes said. “But we must be prepared for lower returns this year. Profits will be very much harder to maintain.”
