Top left: Apparatus to measure quickly the diameter and radius of round objects. These are placed in the V slot and the measurement taken from the sliding scale. Top right: A sliding pointer fitted to a thermometer enables rapid recording of daily temperatures. Left: This endless-towel floor washer has a bucket filled with soapy water. As it is pushed, rollers revolve the towel. A pressure plate regulates the wetness of the towel and brushes at the top take off dirt and grit.
