TRUCE IN FIGHTING

SAIGON, November 30.
South Vietnam announced today a truce in the Vietnam war for Christmas and New Year. No offensive action will be taken by South Vietnamese forces and the six nations allied with it for 48 hours over Christmas and 48 more over New Year. The South Vietnamese Government also called a 96-hour tqice for Tet, the Vietnamese lunar new year.
The Viet Cong last Saturday ordered a 48-hour truce over Christmas and a similar halt in the fighting over the New Year’s holiday.
