Leave From University
Refresher leave a year or more hence was approved for 17 academic staff members by the Canterbury University Council on Monday. In most cases leave is for about a year to be taken at the close of the 1967 university session. Most university teachers travel overseas for study on refresher leave.
Those selected are:— Messrs S. A. M. Adshcad (history), C. J. Burrows (botany). Dr. I. J. Catanach (history), Messrs E. J. Doudney (fine arts), G. J. Fraser (physics), W. F. Newstead (mechanical engineering), T. Paulay (civil engineering). Professor L. F. Phillips (chemistry), Professor H. W. Rhodes (English), Professor J. A. Ritchie (music), Dr. D. E. G. Sheat (botany), Mr J. C. Thornton (philosophy). Dr. W. S. Metcalf (chemistry), Mr C. T. Ford (education), Mr B. A. M. Moon (mathematics, three months), Dr. R. B. Keey (chemical engineering), and Professor H. J. Hopkins (civil engineering).
