Coast Link Out
A slip at Jacksons on the West Coast side of Otira broke telephone communications between Christchurch and Greymouth for about three hours yesterday. The slip brought down poles carrying wires for 22 telephone and several telegraph circuits about 10 a.m.
The Regional Engineer for the Post Office (Mr H. W. Wilkinson) said a link to the West Coast was opened through Seddon and Nelson with one circuit.
While repair gangs were restoring the line about 40 calls banked up but the delay was shortened soon after conditions were back to normal.
