WELLINGTON, Nov. 29.

Winds of up to 76 miles an hour buffeted Wellington yesterday and again today, closing Wellington airport to all DC3 flights and causing a small amount of damage to power and telephone lines. Yesterday’s gusts were such that the Wellington City Council was forced to put up ropes at the intersection of Manners and Taranaki streets. Wellington airport was closed to all but Viscount flights for most of yesterday, but at 7.30 p.m. it was decided the winds were too strong for them too. Today Wellington airport was closed only to DC3 flights. Friendship and Viscount services operated as usual, an N.A.C. spokesman said.
