Church Parade

The annual church parade of H.M.N.Z.S. Pegasus will be held in St. Bartholomew’s Church, Kaiapoi, on Sunday. The Rev. P. N. Wright, chaplain of the Canterbury Division of the R.N.Z.N.V.R., will conduct the service. The parade of naval reservists, sea cadets, and members of the Girls’ Nautical Corps will march to the church from the wharf at 10.40 a.m. with the Kaiapoi Band. The Mayor of Kaiapoi (Mr H. O. Hills) has been invited to take the salute. The commander of the division (Commander R. F. Sanderson) said that the parade would mark the beginning of a recruiting drive to bring the division to full strength early in 1967. The visit to Kaiapoi by the division’s launch, Pegasus, planned to coincide with the church parade, has had to be postponed because of engine trouble.
