Thomas Will Be Fit
(■Special Crspdt NZPA) WELLINGTON. (South Africa.) The Australian batsman, G. Thomas, injured during a dazzling innings of 90 on Wednesday should be fit to play again in a week. Thomas's return to form was the high note of Australia’s run-away victory in a oneday match against a Western Province Country XI. The Australians scored 322 for six after dismissing the Country side for 128. W. M. Lawry slashed 71 runs in 61 minutes and Thomas hit 10 boundaries in his 90. Making a vigorous cut Thomas strained a muscle in his left side and the injury was so tender that he could not continue. Scores: Country XI 128 (I. Chappell 3/43, D. Renneberg 3/18), Australia 322/6 (Thomas 90. Lawry 71, G. D. McKenzie 65).
Broken Arm.—The England Rugby full-back. D Rutherford, may need an operation on the arm which he broke during the British Lions tour of New Zea’ land “The bones do not seem to be knitting together properly." he said
