‘N.Z. ROSES BEST IN WORLD’
“It is no false praise to say that New Zealand roses are the most perfect blooms in the world,” Mr S. McGredy, the noted Irish rose breeder, said in Christchurch.
The only roses that compare are in Portland, Oregon, he said. New Zealand has a cool and reasonably dry climate, which is ideal for the slowforming rose. In Ireland there is too much rain. He is in Christchurch to visit the Canterbury Horticultural Society Rose Show. During his visit to New Zealand he will lecture in four centres and visit the National Rose Convention in Invercargill.
