CATHPETE SWAB

The inquiry into the positive swab returned by the pacer, Cathpete, after he had won the Bowhill Stakes at the New Brighton Trotting Club’s meeting at Addington Raceway on September 17 was opened in Christchurch yesterday. After sitting throughout the day, the judicial committee adjourned the inquiry until today. The judicial committee comprises the New Brighton club's honorary judicial steward, Mr H. D. Smith. Mr W. G. P. Cuningham, of Christchurch, and Mr A. K. Greenslade, of Nelson.
Mr P. T. Mahon represented D. and R. Kendall, who race Cathpete, and Mr B. McClelland appeared for the New Zealand Trotting Confence.
