Rises Outnumber Falls Seven To One
Rises outnumbered falls by seven to one on a very firm market yesterday. Turn-overs were high and the range of trading was wide. All sections of the N.Z. list were stronger, but the overseas list declined again. Highlight of the market was a 2s rise by Tasman to 495. Other good rises were Firth, up Is 3d at 22s 6d, Claude Neon, Is higher at 425, and W. Sutherland Is firmer at 235. Marine Packers improved 8d to 3s 2d.
Associated British Cables shares were traded for the first time; parcels of 200 were sold in Wellington and Christchurch, and 300 changed hands in Auckland, all at 18s, Is 6d above the issue price of 16s 6d.
