HARDCOURT TITLES
Tennis Assn. Decides (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. The New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association will hold annual national hardcourt championships, it was decided at the association’s quarterly meeting last evening.
Starting next year, the championships will be held at either Easter or Labour Day week-end.
The comTrrfttee will also investigate the possibility of staging a national under-19 hardcourt tournament.
Applications for the senior event have been lodged by Otago for Easter 1967, Hawke’s Bay at Labour weekend, 1968, and Waikato on behalf of Cambridge. Linton Cup Team
B. E. Fairlie (Auckland) and J. Mitchell (Christchurch) are included in the New Zealand team to play in the Linton Cup Australian junior inter-state championships at Adelaide in January. They were selected on current performances on the Australian championship circuit. The two other members of the team will be chosen after trials in Lower Hutt on December 12-14.
Twelve girls will play in trials for the Wilson Cup girls’ championship team at the same time. The trialists are:—
Linton Cup.—l. Baudlnet (Hawke's Bay). P. Fyfe (Auckland). W. Lochore (Wairarapa), A. Parun (Wellington), R. Rae (Hutt Valley), J. Ross (Auckland), J. Simpson (North Shore). G. Snook (Auckland).
Wilson Cup—C. Bray (Auckland). S. Caidwell (Wairarapa). S. Collins (Southland). R. Dillon (Canterbury), S. Dowdall (Taranaki), Denise Kerr-Taylor (Auckland), R. Legge (Canterbury). M. Pryde (Wellington), s. Reid (North Shore), C. Ritchie (Wairarapa), A. Stevens (Auckland).
