FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A southerly airstream flows over New Zealand but pressures are rising as a ridge of high pressure approaches across the Tasman Sea. Forecast: Canterbury, the Kaikoura coast and the Sounds.—Fresh southerly winds; scattered showers at first; cold. Marlborough and Nelson.—Southerly winds, fresh in exposed areas; elsewhere winds light to moderate and variable; showers about the high country, partly cloudy elsewhere. Buller and Westland. —South-westerlies, fresh in the afternoon on parts of the coast; otherwise moderate and variable; partly cloudy with moderate afternoon temperatures. Outlook.—Partly cloudy.
