Bid To Stop Dubbing By Radio Hauraki

(New Zealand Press Association)

AUCKLAND, November 21.

An injunction seeking to prevent Radio Hauraki from dubbing records on tape for inclusion in its radio programmes was served on the company today.

The notice from the Phonographic Pe rfonnances Pty_ Ltd.— representing New Zealand record manufacturers warned t hat an interim injunction would be sought in the Supreme Court during the next few days.

Mr D. J. Gapes, managing director of Radio Hauraki, said the transmitter on board the Tiri would be off the air for the next week to enable the 150 ft aerial to be erected. Transmissions at full power—--2J kilowatts—could then be commenced.

Mr Gapes said the temporary aerial aboard the Tiri was

not capable of coping with the power of the 2} kilowatt transmitter. He said the reception in Auckland yesterday was of no commercial value.

Mr Gapes said the Tiri was being battered by the worst storm it had experienced since anchoring outside the three-mile limit in Hauraki Gulf.

Spray was being whipped across the decks and members of the crew were wearing life jackets. “However, the anchor is holding firm and the Tiri is taking the bad weather well,” he said.

The storm was expected to blow out by morning and work would continue on the aerial.
