CHICAGO, November 20.
A restaurant owner shot and killed two brothers and an innocent bystander today after the brothers, members of a group calling itself the “Sons of Satan,” began an argument and attacked him, police said.
Nick Castanes, aged 26, owner of the Park View grill, was arrested by police whom he called to a nearby bowling alley minutes after the shooting.
He offered no resistance. “Grabbed Stools”
Police said Castanes opened fire with a .45 calibre revolver after the brothers, both in their 30s, grabbed stools and came after him across the counter. He was charged with three counts of murder.
Police pieced together this description of what apparently happened: The brothers, who had ap-
patently been drinking, entered the restaurant with a number of companions, all dressed in blue denim jackets with “Sons of Satan” inscribed on the back.
The brothers began to argue police said. Castanes tried to stop the argument but could not, and the brothers began arguing with him. They grabbed stools and came after him. Castanes grabbed his revolver from behind the counter and fired three times. The two brothers and another customer fell dead. Police said the remainder of the “Sons of Satan” fled from the restaurant
Police said the group of men had apparently planned to start a motor-cycle dub called the “Sons of Satan,” but it had not materialised. They were not organised, a detective said.
