I From Our Own Reporter I NELSON, Nov. 20. One member of the New Zealand artillery battery in South Vietnam says he knows nothing of a resolution condemning the Labour Party’s troop withdrawal policy, claimed to have been adopted unanimously by the battery. The soldier, Corporal M. J. Millar, of Nelson, who returned to New Zealand from South Vietnam today, was asked if he saw or signed a resolution. “What resolution?” he replied.
When told it was a “resolution condemning the Labour Party’s statement of policy to withdraw the battery from Vietnam said to have been adopted unanimously by the New Zealand battery,” Corporal Millar said: “I am not aware of any such resolution. I was certainly not asked to sign It.” He was not prepared to conunent further, he said. Troops had been Instructed that they were not to communicate with the press. “This is standard practice at all times.”
