YOUNG MAN STABBED
A young man who was stabbed on Saturday afternoon with a sheath knife which penetrated his heart was on the seriously ill list at the Christchurch Hospital last evening. His condition was reported to be fair.
He is Pat Kahu, aged 23, of flat four, 100 Papanui road, who was stabbed during an altercation in one of the flats in the building about 4.30 p.m.
Mr Kahu lost considerable blood and was taken, by St. John Ambulance to the Christchurch Hospital. He was given a blood transfusion on arrival.
A youth, aged 19, was arrested by Detective-Sergeant A. E. V. Yaxley late on Saturday afternoon in Papanui. He will appear in the Magistrate’s Court this morning on a
charge of wounding and causing grievous bodily harm. Police, accompanied by dogs, searched the area around the flat where the stabbing occurred. Mr Kahu was operated on on Saturday evening.
